Slow Hardener

Extended Working Time for Warm Conditions & Complex Projects.

Sea•Forge Slow Hardener is a non-blushing Part B hardener designed for use with Sea•Forge Low Viscosity Epoxy Resin. Its slower cure provides extended working time for fiberglassing, laminating, bonding, and complex assemblies, especially in warmer working conditions.

Pair with Sea•Forge Low Viscosity Epoxy Resin as part of the Sea•Forge 2:1 Epoxy System.

Why Builders Choose Sea•Forge Slow Hardener

  • Extended Working Time: Provides more time for fiberglassing, laminating, bonding, and complex assemblies.
  • Non-Blushing Formula: Designed to cure without amine blush, reducing surface preparation between coats.
  • Ideal for Warm Conditions: Slower cure provides additional working time as shop and material temperatures increase.
  • Excellent for Large Laminations: Extended working time provides more time to thoroughly wet out larger surfaces and heavier fiberglass and composite fabrics.
  • Complex Assemblies: Allows additional time for positioning, fitting, and multi-part bonding.
  • Strong Adhesion: Creates strong, durable bonds to wood, fiberglass, composites, and properly prepared metals.
  • Balanced Strength & Flexibility: Formulated to provide a strong, tough bond with the flexibility needed to accommodate normal movement and stresses in wood, fiberglass, and composite structures.
  • Marine Applications: Formulated for boatbuilding, repair, restoration, and composite construction.
  • Low VOC: Formulated with low volatile organic compound content.

Sea•Forge 2:1 Epoxy System

  • Part A — Epoxy Resin: Clear, low-viscosity resin for coating, bonding, laminating, and fiberglass wet-out.
  • Part B — Slow Hardener: Extended working-time hardener for warmer conditions, larger laminations, and complex assemblies.

Always mix 2 parts Part A Epoxy Resin : 1 part Part B Hardener by volume. Do not alter this ratio.

Primary Applications

Boatbuilding | Warm-Weather Epoxy Work | Fiberglass & Composite Cloths | Vacuum Bagging | Structural Bonding | Filleting | Coating & Saturation

How to Use

  1. Measure: Mix 2 parts Sea·Forge Low Viscosity Epoxy Resin : 1 part Sea•Forge Slow Hardener by volume. Do not alter this ratio. Use graduated mixing cups for accurate measurement of small or large batches, or use calibrated 2:1 dispensing pumps. Test pumps for accuracy before first use and before mixing a large batch.
  2. Mix Thoroughly: Stir the resin and hardener completely, scraping the sides and bottom of the mixing container.
  3. Apply: Use mixed epoxy for coating, fiberglass wet-out, laminating, and bonding.
  4. For Bonding & Fillets: When thickened epoxy is needed, add the appropriate Sea•Forge filler only after the resin and hardener have been thoroughly mixed.
  5. Adjust Cure Speed: Sea•Forge Fast Hardener may be blended with Slow Hardener when an intermediate cure speed is desired. Maintain the required 2 parts resin : 1 part total hardener by volume ratio.
  6. Allow to Cure: Cure time varies with hardener blend, temperature, application thickness, batch size, and working conditions.
