SeaForge Phenolic Micro Balloons - Fairing Filler
SeaForge™ Phenolic Micro Balloons
Achieve smooth, professional-quality fairing with SeaForge Phenolic Micro Balloons by Pro Coatings. These ultra-low-density hollow spheres are designed to be blended into mixed epoxy resin to create a lightweight, creamy fairing compound that spreads easily and sands exceptionally well.
Ideal for smoothing large hull surfaces, fairing composite structures, and repairing surface gouges and imperfections, SeaForge Phenolic Micro Balloons add volume with minimal weight. The resulting fairing compound spreads smoothly with less drag than heavier fillers and sands easily after cure, reducing labor while helping you achieve a smooth, accurate surface ready for primer and paint.
Why Boatbuilders Choose SeaForge Phenolic Micro Balloons
- Easy Sanding: Creates an epoxy fairing compound that sands quickly and smoothly, reducing the time and effort required to achieve the final profile.
- Ultra-Lightweight: Hollow phenolic spheres add substantial volume to mixed epoxy while keeping the finished fairing compound lightweight.
- Smooth Application: Produces a creamy, easy-to-spread consistency that can be thickened as needed for vertical or overhead surfaces.
- Above & Below the Waterline: Suitable for fairing marine epoxy surfaces above and below the waterline when used as part of a properly applied epoxy coating system.
- Versatile Consistency: Add more or less filler to adjust the mixture from a smooth fairing compound to a thicker, non-sag paste.

Product Specifications
- Brand: SeaForge™ by Pro Coatings LLC
- Material: Phenolic Micro Balloons / Hollow Spheres
- Color: Deep Red-Brown
- Container Sizes: Quart, Half-Gallon Tubs & bulk containers.

How to Use
- Mix the Epoxy: Thoroughly combine SeaForge Epoxy Resin (Part A) and Hardener (Part B) at the specified mix ratio before adding any filler.
- Add Micro Balloons: Gradually stir SeaForge Phenolic Micro Balloons into the mixed epoxy until the desired consistency is reached. For heavier fairing and filling, continue adding until the mixture reaches a creamy, non-sag consistency similar to heavy peanut butter.
- Apply: Spread the fairing compound over the properly prepared surface using a plastic epoxy spreader, putty knife, or other suitable fairing tool.
- Sand: Allow the epoxy fairing compound to cure fully, then sand to the desired profile using a fearing board, sanding block or sander; 80-120 grip sand paper.
- Seal & Finish: After fairing and sanding are complete, apply 1–2 coats of unthickened epoxy over the faired surface to fill porosity and seal the fairing compound. Allow the epoxy to cure, then sand the surface smooth and prepare it for the final finish of paint or varnish.
