Cellulose Filler

Versatile Epoxy Filler for Bonding, Filling & Filleting

SeaForge Cellulose Filler is a lightweight, fiber-based additive for thickening epoxy for bonding, laminating, filleting, and gap filling. It blends easily into mixed epoxy to create a smooth, workable adhesive or non-sag paste.

Excellent for structural bonding, it is commonly used for installing breasthooks, stringers, frames, and bulkheads, laminating two substrates together, and creating smooth structural fillets.

Why Boatbuilders Choose Cellulose Filler

  • Excellent for Bonding: Creates a strong, gap-filling adhesive for structural assembly.
  • Ideal for Laminating: Produces a smooth, spreadable mixture for bonding two substrates together.
  • Smooth Fillets: Easily tooled into clean, consistent radii.
  • Gap Filling: Adds body to epoxy to bridge gaps and irregular mating surfaces.
  • Adjustable Consistency: Add more or less filler to achieve the viscosity needed for the job.
  • Versatile: Can be used alone or blended with other epoxy fillers.

Primary Applications

Structural Bonding | Laminating | Stitch-and-Glue Fillets | Gap Filling | General Assembly | Filling Voids & Gouges

How to Use

  1. Mix the Epoxy First: Thoroughly mix SeaForge Epoxy Resin (Part A) and Hardener (Part B) at the specified ratio before adding Cellulose Filler.
  2. Add Filler Gradually: Stir Cellulose Filler into the mixed epoxy until you reach the consistency needed for the application.
  3. For Bonding & Laminating: Add enough filler to create a smooth, thickened mixture that spreads easily but does not readily run out of the joint. Apply to the mating surfaces and assemble the parts.
  4. For Fillets: Add filler until the epoxy reaches a smooth, non-sag, peanut-butter-like consistency. Cellulose Filler can also be combined with wood flour for structural fillets. Apply and shape with a rounded filleting tool.
  5. For Gap Filling: Use a thicker mixture that will bridge the gap and remain in place without sagging.
  6. Fiberglass Structural Fillets: When fiberglass reinforcement is required, apply fiberglass tape or cloth according to the project instructions. When possible, fiberglass can be applied while the fillet is still uncured, reducing sanding and additional preparation.
